Faster, More Accurate Drug Discovery & Biological Age Estimation: Verseon’s FMLDS Papers Now Published on IEEE Xplore

Verseon’s papers describing advances in predicting drug-protein interactions and accurately estimating biological age now available online

Two peer-reviewed papers on Verseon's AI have just been published on IEEE Xplore. These publications follow Verseon's earlier presentations at IEEE FMLDS.

The first paper, “A Novel Graph Neural Network Approach for Predicting Drug-Target Interactions,” details Verseon’s work extending graph neural network architectures to better capture the topology of knowledge graphs used in drug discovery. In benchmark testing on the widely used ChG-Miner dataset, the approach produced a 41% lower error rate than current state-of-the-art methods.

Accurately predicting how a drug candidate will interact with its intended biological target is a persistent challenge in pharmaceutical development. Improving those predictions can shorten discovery timelines, reduce spending on dead-end candidates that ultimately fail, and improve the safety profile of molecules that advance into clinical testing.

The second paper, “VerseAge: A Phenotypic Age Predictor Based on a Shallow Random Network Architecture,” introduces VersAge, Verseon’s method for estimating a person’s biological, rather than chronological, age using routinely collected blood and urine biomarkers along with other physiological measurements. In testing, VersAge achieved a 27% lower error rate than the nearest comparable biological aging clock.

Reliable biological age estimates are increasingly viewed as a foundational tool for aging research, giving scientists a quantitative way to track the effects of interventions aimed at slowing or reversing age-related decline.
